conceptual project

This activity we did in class was interesting. I found that there could be any combination of shapes. The little thumbnails that we picked will never be picked in the same order therefore the pattern will always vary no matter how many times we repeat the activity. This reminds me of little games such as dots that children play. I thought this activity was intricate and well thought out.

my performance proposal

To perform my proposal get three or four of your friends and stand together in a circle then close your eyes. The idea is to reach out in front and to either side of you and try to guess what material they're wearing.

My proposal was not very complicated. It was rather simple and straight forward. I think it would have worked out better if i found people who had a bigger variety of clothing.

Be very careful when you are reaching out to the people around you not to grab any offensive arias.

This activity was fun. It was interesting and unique. Pat has some pretty fun ideas, the string activity and now this. This activity was fun because it allowed us to be free. We could make whatever face we wanted. What was interesting about this activity was that even though we were facing back to back we could use the mirrors to see each others funny faces. The mirrors made this assignment really cool. The further you got from your partner the smaller their face got. The fact that we had to make funny faces was really cool. When we were close the face in the mirror looked funny but the further away and smaller the image got in your own mirror the funnier it got. Pat was my partner. She mimicked every face that i made. It got really hard to keep a straight face the smaller and smaller the image of Pat got in my mirror. Trying to make funny faces when an increasingly smaller image of the same funny faces that you are making is really hard.

the bride???????

well here we see the bride... this piece has no actual representation of a bride. i cannot see the bride. i think thats really stupid. stupid because it does not make sense. if the title is the bride shouldn't you be able to tell that there is some kind of representation of a bride? you don't really need characters to convey subject matter but it defiantly helps. the shapes are really random and they don't have a continuous theme.
even though this piece does not make any literal sense it is very figurative. the shapes in the upper left symbolize the bride. the cloud and the empty space leaves room for you to think about what else should be there.
i think overall this piece is "OK" in my opinion it's really not that good because you get no impression of what it means or what it's about. there is no subject matter at all. I'm not saying that you need subject matter to convey your ideas but a little subject matter would make this piece better i think, because you would not have to sit here and try to figure out what the piece is about.

PATERN REPETITI0N

my composition for the first image was a graduation hat rotated four times to create the illusion of squares of empty white space. the assignment we had to do today was interesting. i liked the fact that we had to rotate the original image in different combinations. im not sure what combination i like most but im sure the more i look at them the more ill be able to decide.
i don't completely understand the parameters for this assignment so im waiting for to talk to Pat about it to print.

SO..... the ilustrator project for positave and negative space

we were assiged to create a positive and negative version of the same basic shape.. the basic vector drawing skills.....
this assignent was not much of a chalange for be but neverthe less i used it to my benifit. it was an iteresting assignment. i never worked with this kind of assignment. when i got my first basic instruction in illustrator it was just tracing lines. i liked this project becausew it left room for me to creat my own composition. my particular piece turned out pritty good in my opinion.

THE STRING THING

twards the end of last weeks class we engaged in an activity... at the time this activity seemed to be a carefree event where we would have fun and be creative but i soon learned that i was stringing myself deeper and deeper into a string whirlpool of entanglement.
the solution to spreading your own ball of string arount the room is that once you have finished stringing the room you unstring your own individual thread of string. this was particulary difficult for me vctoria and alace becaus, at one point during the excersize we decided it would be fun to tie eachother up to ourselvs and to the surouding objects. it was fun...
when we realized that we had to untie every tangle of that damn string we were dissapointed.
through determination and patience we managed to untangle ourselvs. it was a hard and drawn out process and we struggled with it. my attitude was negative at first, but i realized that i needed to be positive in order to succed in untagling myself from these two girls who decided to be as daring as me. we were carefree and unconcerned. we had no knowlage of the future concequences. unfortunate for us...
this showed me something.
when you run into something your bound to mess it up if you dont know the concequences because you will carrry on, not knowing the end result or solution. you must have an understanding of what is to come inorder to proerly carryout what must be done in the present.
rushing into something is not always a good idea, especially in this case. the concequences of our actions were worth the trouble in my opinion be cause i had alot of fun tangleing victoria and alace up to chairs and tables and stols and whatnot.

this was a very fun excersize and i think that i learned from it. i learned that string entanglement is very uncomfortible and if you ever encounter an activity like this GO NUTS!!!! just know that if you do you will have one heck of a time retreving every inch of that string from every nook and cranny of the room.

letter A is a shape because it has three lines that connect and a black fill.
letter B is a line because it has a clear starting point and a clear ending point.
letter C is a shape because there are four lines that connect at the corners and it is filled with black.
letter D is a shape because there is no clear starting point or ending point.

a line should have a clear starting point or at least one direction.
a shape is an aria of space that is occupied by a fill of color or shade.

my first bloggg

i chose this piece because i like the grey and the randome black lines. there are grids and strange shapes in the backround that are composed of a darker grey than that of the backround.
the curvey lines of this piece simbolize peace. the backround is also soothing because the grey fades into a lighter greay at the top which creats a fealing of development. the random dark shapes suggest randomness again but also a little bit of angry thoughts.
this shows pain and an atempt to escape the dread of the black shapes. the grids represent order and precision. they show perspective. the curvey lines are black and red. the black is an opposing force and the red represents life.
